A surprise visit I have not expected today !.. This is very common here to come without prior notice while in the US everybody likes to have a plan before showing up on someone's doorstep.. I'm very happy to see my friend that I haven't seen in a while !
It’s funny how sometimes life has a way of throwing you unexpected surprises, and today was no different. I was in the middle of my usual routine when the sound of a knock on the door startled me. At first, I didn’t think much of it. After all, I wasn’t expecting anyone. Maybe it was a delivery or a neighbor needing a favor. But when I opened the door, I was taken aback. There, standing in front of me with a huge grin on her face, was my dear friend.
Now, where I come from, it’s very common for people to show up unannounced. We don't have the same kind of "plans and schedules" that seem to be the norm in other places, especially in the US, where everyone seems to prefer having a set time and agenda before stepping into someone’s home. But here, things are different. Spontaneity is part of the charm of life. A friend can show up at any moment, and it's not only accepted but welcomed with open arms.
But today was a different story. I hadn’t seen this particular friend in months, maybe longer. Life had kept us both busy, with work, family, and the usual whirlwind of obligations that can pull people apart. And though we’d promised to keep in touch, those promises often fade as time slips away unnoticed. So, when I saw her standing there, I felt a rush of emotions – surprise, joy, nostalgia, even a little bit of disbelief. It was like an unexpected gift. She stepped inside, and immediately, everything felt right again. There was no awkwardness, no need for formalities. We just picked up where we left off, like no time had passed at all.
The conversations flowed as easily as they always had, and it felt as though nothing had changed between us, even though so much had. "Surprise!" she laughed, her eyes twinkling with that mischievous glint I remembered so well. "I thought I'd catch you off guard. It's been too long, and I figured it was about time we had a little reunion." And, oh, what a reunion it was! We spent the next several hours reminiscing about old times, swapping stories, and even diving into topics we had never discussed before. It felt so natural, as though all the years and miles between us were nothing more than a fleeting moment.
For me, it was a reminder of the beauty of friendship and the warmth that comes when you least expect it. Yes, it might have been a little chaotic and spontaneous, but that’s what made it special. No plans, no prior warning—just the simple joy of seeing someone you care about. It was a small, unannounced visit that turned out to be one of the most memorable days I’ve had in a long time.
By the time she left, I felt rejuvenated, grateful for the surprise, and happy that life still has a way of delivering the things you didn’t know you needed. I waved her goodbye, and as I closed the door, I couldn’t help but smile. After all, some of the best moments in life come when we least expect them.
