Today my family visited us since we couldn't go to their place yet .. I got sick since I arrived here in Masbate and still recovering . For some reason my body is already used to the environment in the US. 😅. I'm just so happy that I get to eat this grill fish that I have been waiting to eat !
Today was one of those days that I didn't expect to be so meaningful, but it turned out to be one of the best ones in recent weeks. My family, knowing that we hadn’t been able to visit them yet, decided to come over to our place. It was a gesture I deeply appreciated, especially since I’ve been under the weather since I arrived here in Masbate.
I have to admit, my body seems to have gotten used to the environment in the US, and adjusting to the tropical climate here has been a bit of a struggle. It's not just the heat; it’s the humidity and the change in food and air quality that has taken its toll on me. Since arriving, I’ve been battling some kind of lingering sickness—whether it’s the change in weather or just my body reacting to the shift, I’m not entirely sure. But I’ve been recovering slowly, trying to stay positive and rest as much as I can. Thankfully, today was one of those rare days when I felt a little better.
When my family arrived, I was both excited and relieved to see them. They had made the effort to come all the way to our place, and seeing their familiar faces filled me with warmth and comfort. There’s something about family that can instantly lift your spirits, no matter how sick or tired you feel. We talked and laughed like old times, reminiscing about moments we had shared and catching up on everything that’s happened in our lives. It felt like a little piece of home had traveled to me here in Masbate.
The highlight of the day, however, was the meal. While I was still recovering and didn’t have much of an appetite, there was one thing I had been waiting for—the grilled fish. Oh, how I’ve missed this simple, yet absolutely delicious dish. There's nothing quite like the taste of freshly grilled fish here, especially when it's seasoned just right and served with that tangy dipping sauce. It’s a taste that immediately brings you back to the warmth of home. I’ve been craving it since I arrived, and today, finally, I got to enjoy it.
As my family set the table, I could already smell the smoky aroma of the grilled fish wafting through the air, and I couldn’t help but feel my stomach growl. Even though I wasn’t completely back to my usual self, my appetite seemed to have returned the moment I saw that platter of perfectly cooked fish before me. I couldn't wait to dig in.
The first bite was everything I had hoped for—crispy on the outside, tender and flaky on the inside, with just the right balance of flavors. It was a taste of home that made everything feel better, even for just a moment. I savored each bite, knowing that this meal had been worth the wait.
My family watched me eat, smiling as they could see how much I enjoyed it. They knew how long I had been longing for this particular dish, and it felt good to finally have it after so much time. There’s something deeply satisfying about having a meal that you’ve been waiting for, especially when it brings you so much comfort and joy.
The day ended with laughter, good food, and a sense of connection. Even though I’m still recovering from my sickness and adjusting to this new environment, today reminded me of the simple joys that make life so rich. Family, food, and those little moments of happiness that you don’t expect but are grateful for when they come.
As I sat back, content with the food and the company, I couldn’t help but feel thankful. Despite the challenges of getting sick and adjusting to a new place, I realized that these are the moments that make everything worthwhile. The love of family and the taste of home—what more could I ask for?
